Medicare

All Australian Citizens except for Norfolk Islanders can have a Medicare Card.  People with New Zealand Citizenships living in Australia can also have medicare if they provide certain documents. You must have a permanent Visa and be at least 15 years old.

Families have medicare cover so that when they use Health Services, they only have to pay some of the bill.

Advantages:

• You can claim costs to Medicare
• You don't have to pay the full bill.
• Injections are free if you have medicare.

Disadvantages:

• It doesn't cover everything.
• You can only use some health services to claim.
• It can cost alot for people who don't have well paying jobs.

Services that teens would use:

• Counselling
• Alcohol and Drugs
• Employment and Training
• Relationships
• Routine Management at Home
• Promotion of Self Esteem and Confidence.

Kids Helpline

We think teenages would mostly use:

• My relationships - If your are having a tough time with your friends/partners.
• My family - If you dont have good relationship with your parents or siblings.
• My wellbeing - If you aren't comfortable with who you are or are strugging with depression.
• Stuff at school - If you are suffering from bullying or exam and study stress
• Looking after me - If you drink alcohol, take drugs or you are being bullyied in any sort of way.

Bulk Billing

Bulk Billing is a payment option under Medicare, a doctor is payed around 85% of the fee by the government by billing the patient through Medicare.

FReeZA

FReeZA is a program providing teens and young adults from ages 12 to 25 with the opportunity to access cheap music and cultural events. FReeZA is fully supervised and drug, alcohol and smoking are banned.

We might use FReeZA depending on what gigs and events are on.

Centeral Bayside Community Services

Centeral Bayside Community Services provide:

• Counselling
• Child Development
• Sexual Health Clinic
• Alcohol and Drugs
• And Physiotherapy

for teenagers.

We don't need these services now but we may in later years.

Ambulance Cover

 

Ambulance cover costs a family $80.60 per year for ambulance cover. If you don't have ambulance cover ambulance can cost up to $2,000, if you do have it you only the cover.
